Plywood Prices – Price Reduction

The plywood prices have reached the bottom . Plywood industry has also affected by the global economical crisis . The whole plywood industry in China exports less than ever .

Now the plywood price is almost as low as two years ago. The reasons that the plywood prices have been reduced a lot are as follows:

1. The prices of plywood veneers decreased

The prices of China local veneers (such as poplar) decreased more than imported hardwood veneers (such as Okoume / Mahogany, Bingtangor) . But recently, the prices of veneers have increased a little .

2. The prices of glue decreased

The WBP phenolic glue decreased more than WBP melamine glue and MR glue. However, recently, the prices of glue have increased a little , too.

3. The transportation cost decreased

The ocean freight (from China to other countries) decreased more than the internal transportation costs (transportation from factory to the Port of Loading) . As for a few busy shipping lanes from China, the freight charges might decrease by 30~50%. But the freight charges from China to some small and medium-scaled remote ports have not decreased much . I think the freight charges will maintain unchanged in the coming several months.

Most of the other kinds of costs of plywood have not changed obviously.

The plywood prices have hit the bottom. So it’s good time to order plywood now .
