hpl-plywood HPL means "High Pressure Laminates" . HPL is a kind of engineered plastic laminates . After the plywood has been produced, HPL is covered onto the face/back of plywood under high pressure . That’s what people call “HPL Plywood” .

HPL plywood is a kind of fire-proof plywood, because it has high temperature resistance and radiant heat resistance in addition to the other characteristics such as wear and impact resistance, water resistance, stain resistance, cleanability, durability and so on .

The common color of HPL plywood is white color, but other colors and patterns are also available, such as green color, maple wood grain style and so on .

HPL plywood are widely used in furniture and inner decoration.

Europe and USA use a lot of HPL plywood. Some other countries such as Israel also import HPL plywood from China.

Hardboard (Face)

Hardboard (also called high-density fiberboard) is widely used in furniture, decoration and packing . It’s  a cheaper substitute for plywood for some applications where high strength is not required.

The face of hardboard is smooth(SEE the first picture), while the back of hardboard is not smooth (textured) and looks like wiremesh (SEE the second picture).

We supply hardboard of average quality, which is much cheaper than our hardboard of premium quality .

However, there are two kinds of average-quality-hardboard:
1. one is common average-quality-hardboard;
2. the other is tempered average-quality-hardboard impregnated with additional glue / oil making them stiffer, harder and more resistant to scratches and moisture .

The Density of Plywood is higher than the density of the timber species used to manufacture the products .

The face/back veneers of plywood weight practically much less than the core veneers. So the density of plywood is mainly depended on the timer species of the core veneers .

Usually 4 kinds of timber species are used to manufacture the cores of plywood ( film faced plywood ) , i.e. birch, hardwood, pine and poplar. The density of different plywood is listed as follows:

PLYWOOD (FILM FACED PLYWOOD) DENSITY (KG/M3 or KG/CBM)

BIRCH CORE PLYWOOD (FILM FACED PLYWOOD)

ABOUT 680~700

HARDWOOD CORE PLYWOOD (FILM FACED PLYWOOD)

ABOUT 580~620

PINE CORE PLYWOOD (FILM FACED PLYWOOD)

ABOUT 570~610

POPLAR CORE PLYWOOD (FILM FACED PLYWOOD)

ABOUT 500~530
