The Grade & Quality Of Poplar Cores for plywood

 

Poplar core veneers are used for making both poplar plywood and hardwood plywood. The grade & quality of poplar cores for plywood can fall into 7 grades(AA grade poplar core, A+ grade poplar core, A grade poplar core, B+ grade poplar core, B grade poplar core, C+ grade poplar core, C grade poplar core):

1. AA grade poplar core-the best core

a. core veneers: better whole piece poplar core veneers(the size of the core veneers is 84X127CM) scarf jointed by machine(the scarf joint is glued and hot pressed)
b. core will be hot pressed for 1 or 2 times
c. core is very flat
d. thickness tolerance of the core is small
e. The core of this grade is usually used for very good quality plywood such as B/BB , BB/CC grade plywood .
f. AA grade core is much more expensive than A+ grade core .

2. A+ grade poplar core

a. core veneers: better whole piece poplar core veneers(the size of the core veneers is 84X127CM)
b. core will be hot pressed for 2 times
c. core is very flat
d. thickness tolerance of the core is small
e. The core of this grade is usually used for very good quality plywood such as B/BB grade plywood , BB/CC grade plywood

3. A grade poplar core

a. core veneers: ordinary whole piece poplar core veneers(the size of the core veneers is 84X127CM)
b. core will be hot pressed for 1 time
c. core is flat
d. thickness tolerance of the core is small , too but a little bigger than A+ grade
e. The core of this grade is usually used for good quality plywood such as B/BB , BB/CC grade plywood . Most of EU, US, Canadaian customers require the core of this grade .

4. B+ grade poplar core

a. core veneers: ordinary whole piece poplar core veneers(the size of the core veneers is 84X127CM) mixed with medium size poplar core veneers .
b. core will be hot pressed for 2 times
c. core is flat
d. thickness tolerance of the core is similar to A grade
e. The core of this grade is usually used for medium quality plywood such as BB/CC, DBB/CC grade plywood , C+/C grade pine plywood and so on .
f. The core of this grade is economical and quality is acceptable for a lot of customers .

5. B grade poplar core

a. core veneers: ordinary whole piece poplar core veneers(the size of the core veneers is 84X127CM) mixed with medium size poplar core veneers .
b. core will be hot pressed for 1 times
c. core is flat
d. thickness tolerance of the core is a little bigger than B+ grade
e. The core of this grade is usually used for medium quality plywood such as BB/CC, DBB/CC, UTY grade plywood , C+/C grade pine plywood and so on .
f. The core of this grade is economical and quality is acceptable for a lot of customers , too

6. C+ grade poplar core

a. core veneers: ordinary whole piece poplar core veneers(the size of the core veneers is 84X127CM) mixed with small(broken) size poplar core veneers .
b. core will be hot pressed for 2 times
c. core is flat
d. thickness tolerance of the core is bigger
e. The core of this grade is usually used for Utility grade plywood such as DBB/CC grade plywood, UTY grade plywood and so on .
f. The core of this grade is cheap and quality is still acceptable as utility grade plywood .

7. C grade poplar core (I don’t use core of this grade )

a. core veneers: ordinary whole piece poplar core veneers(the size of the core veneers is 84X127CM) mixed with small(broken) size poplar core veneers .
b. core will be hot pressed for 1 times
c. core may be not very flat
d. thickness tolerance of the core is much bigger
e. The core of this grade is usually used for lowest quality plywood
f. The core of this grade is cheapest but the quality can not be guaranteed . This kind of core can be used for low quality packing plywood . But I don’t supply plywood made of this kind of core. We usually use C+ grade for our packing plywood.
